Latimer Squared

Following the 2010-11 earthquakes, designers and developers were invited to submit entries for a sustainable and commercially viable medium density urban village for Christchurch, to inspire a new generation of residents within the city. The goal of the rebuild is to provide a variety of housing options and lifestyle choices based on the key principles of sustainability, affordability, innovation and a strong sense of community.

Inspire a new generation

Studio Design + Architecture partnered with New Zealand-based development firm Legacy, submitting a design response, Latimer Squared, that reflects the global trends reshaping our cities: concentrating at the core as knowledge-intensive industries create more inner-city jobs.

Our design opts for an integrated medium-high density housing solution incorporating live + work + play opportunities that are essential to growth and Christchurch’s rebuild effort.
