New Zealand Embassy
The New Zealand Embassy project in Beijing was carried out over six years by our Principals (working with another entity originally) and completed by Studio Design + Architecture in 2018. The existing embassy was demolished to make way for the new building, and the site had a limited area available for construction. Studio Design + Architecture successfully managed the size constraints to achieve the required functions within the site.
The new 4800 sqm building incorporates the Chancery, Official Residence, Representative Space, additional public spaces, and offices for New Zealand Embassy staff and nine different government agencies.

Contemporary open plan office space and fully landscaped grounds that can cater for 300 guests.
The Embassy has a double-height entry foyer. Flexible meeting rooms open into the foyer to provide a larger function space when required. The entry also connects to the Representative space which has a large lounge area and dining space that open on to the landscaped garden. Included in the Representative space is He Pakiaka (a marae that doubles as a VIP meeting room), a commercial kitchen, and a large dining room. The foyer leads to lifts to the upper floors where the Chancery has contemporary open plan office space. The fully landscaped grounds include hard and soft landscaping and can cater for functions of 300 guests. There is also a basement which incorporates parking and plant.
We would love to hear about the start of your new project
